Wayne Mulhall running for a place on the RUK board

Wayne Mulhall, Managing Director (MD) of both James Fisher Renewables (JF Renewables) and EDS HV Group (EDS), is running for a place on the RenewableUK board, with voting opening today (Wednesday 6 April).

Appointed managing director of EDS, part of JF Renewables, in August 2021 and MD of JF Renewables in the October, Wayne ensures a holistic approach is achieved across the businesses, with all renewable activities across the James Fisher and Sons group consolidated under the one brand.

Wayne brings to the business significant experience in the offshore wind industry, having held a senior role at MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and prior to this, senior positions at Siemens Gamesa and Rolls Royce.

Below you can read Wayne`s own words as to why he is so passionate about being part of the RenewableUK board, and what he feels he can bring to this position.

"The RUK board embodies the spirit and energy that the UK needs to ensure a just transition to a clean energy future. This passion for the drive to net zero is something that I share, and with my experience drawing on both renewables and oil and gas, offshore and onshore, and across the supply chain, I believe I can bring extra depth to the RUK board and offer the perspective of underrepresented parts of the supply chain.

I have led the successful delivery of the UK’s first 8MW turbines at Burbo Bank, and have experience of subsea, topside and onshore balance of plant. Moreover, I worked for two of the largest turbine OEM’s in the world, and managed operations in UK, Benelux, Japan, Taiwan and the US, offering an international perspective that spans the supply chain.

Whilst our company’s history is in oil and gas, we initiated our own energy transition 14 years ago. As a result, we are well placed to bring to bear decades of accumulated engineering innovation and talent. We are experienced in offshore wind, onshore wind, and battery storage plus transferable expertise to support the floating offshore wind market.

I’m excited and passionate about the work we are doing at James Fisher to drive the energy transition, and equally so about the tireless work RUK does to deliver renewable power at a lower levelised cost of energy in the UK. I would be proud to combine the two by offering my energy, experience and commitment to the RUK board."

Voting opens to RenewableUK members from 6 April and closes 27 April and full details will be shared by RenewableUK.

Launched in March 2020, JF Renewables aligns the specialist capabilities from existing James Fisher and Sons group companies. Since the launch, the business has had a number of high-profile contract wins including undertaking work for customers such as RWE and Iberdrola. The business supports pure-play renewables developers, marine civil constructors and oil and gas majors alike in pushing the boundaries of what is possible to accelerate the energy transition, while maintaining existing energy infrastructure.
