EDS HV Group strengthen skills with further specialist training
- Advanced training continues to bolster EDS HV Group skillsets
- EDS’s high voltage maintenance specialists are continuing to improve upon their existing skills after successfully completing further advanced training.
Members of the EDS HV team recently completed secondary injection training via DAGEM Power. The training is part of an ongoing programme of upskilling and is another investment towards EDS’s ongoing programme to multi skill engineers. The session consisted of classroom-based theory followed by a practical workshop providing hands-on learning with a range of different manufacturers test sets and relays. This marks the start of a wider programme of training with DAGEM, to further enhance both the theory and practical skills already learned.
David Shammas, Protection Services Manager, DAGEM Power said:
“Having supported the EDS HV team with numerous protection maintenance and replacement works over the years, it was a pleasure to welcome many familiar faces to our Workshop. The attendees demonstrated excellent practical knowledge and a broad skillset which we aimed to supplement with some detailed product familiarisation during the workshops. We look forward to supporting EDS HV with their ongoing training requirements and welcoming the team back in the near future.”
This recent training opportunity forms part of an extensive and robust competency programme which is in place to ensure that EDS staff continue to take pride of place at the forefront of the industry.
The training programme has greatly enhanced the overall skill level of the team, enabling them to continue performing highly complex maintenance tasks with complete confidence and professionalism.
Explaining the importance of the regularly upskilling of employees, Rauri Maguire, Operations & Maintenance Engineer at EDS, said:
“The seasonal aspect of the O&M market means the winter months are traditionally quieter, providing us with more downtime. However, we’re committed to using that time wisely to invest in our team, ensuring that all members undergo regular competency training to prepare us for the busy summer maintenance season.
“We have a detailed programme which enables us to provide each team member with multiple skills. This helps us to develop our team to the highest possible standards while maximising productivity. The benefits to our clients are clear: by investing in training, we’re helping to maximise network availability while becoming more cost-effective. Our thanks go to DAGEM Power for an excellent training course.”
